Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell was an actress on television, former chef in the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. Burrell hosts Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network presenter with her distinctive long, blonde hair with a exuberant personality, shares easy techniques to master and reduces the fear of eating at restaurants in her show Secrets of a Restaurant. Chef Burrell also worked at several of the city's most prestigious eateries, studied Italian cuisine and its traditions, and was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. While growing up in the Upstate New York area, Chef Burrell discovered a love for cooking and food from a young age. The Culinary Institute of America was the catalyst for her passion for restaurant management after she earned an English/Communications degree at Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was the place where I experienced my most memorable time in my life. I just couldn't get enough pleasure from it. Following graduation, Chef Burrell was in Italy for a whole year studying at an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. She also worked in La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin starred restaurant) located in Tuscany. She gained a deeper understanding of Italian culture and cuisine throughout her time in Italy and this has affected the way she cooks. Burrell is a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which brightens the lives of struggling children. Burrell is also an Juvenile diabetes Research Foundation celebrity advocate where she promotes awareness of young diabetics. Burrell travels extensively across the United States in her position as both a mentor and public speaker in which she speaks about her professional life and the joy of cooking. Throughout Anne's culinary journey she has often said that I am very fortunate to share my true passion to others.
